Can BDI-II detect depression among cancer patients?
To examine the criterion validity of BDI-II, we computed the ROC analyses for detecting depression among cancer patients.
Do psychiatric outpatients score higher on the BDI-II?
There has been strong known-groups validation evidence for the BDI-II in both adult and adolescent groups. Beck et al. ( 1996) found that psychiatric outpatients scored significantly higher on the BDI-II than undergraduate psychology students.
Does BDI-II correlate with Beck Depression Inventory?
The correlation between BDI-II and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-I) was high and substantial overlap with measures of depression and anxiety was reported. The criterion-based validity showed good sensitivity and specificity for detecting depression in comparison to the adopted gold standard.
Is BDI-II a good psychometric measure?
BDI-II presented a good reliability and validity that represent adequate psychometric properties. Its sensitivity and specificity were suitable. This psychometric measure is important in diagnosing and treating depression in cancer patients.
