  • How do you know if you are fluent in a language?

There are different ways of measuring levels of proficiency in a language. Perhaps the best general reference point is the European Common Framework of Reference which divides proficiency into six levels from A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. In my view, B2 is the level where you are fluent.

  • What are language levels?

What Are Language Levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2? Language proficiency levels A1-C2 refer to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). They indicate Beginner (A1-A2), Intermediate (B1-B2), and Advanced (C1-C2) levels of foreign language competence.

  • Is English fluency lower than C2?

As a matter of fact, English “fluency” actually begins a couple of levels lower than C2! We know this thanks to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The CEFR is an international guideline to measure language ability, using a scale from A1 (beginners) to C2 (language masters).

  • What is a good level to be fluent in English?

Perhaps the best general reference point is the European Common Framework of Reference which divides proficiency into six levels from A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. In my view, B2 is the level where you are fluent. If you look at the summary description below you will see that this level, sort of advanced intermediate, is actually quite high.
