For Faster Payments, it can take one working day for the payment to bounce back, and for BACS, it can take four working days.
Once this time has passed, if the payment has not been returned into your account, you can fill out a Credit Payment Recovery form.
Can a BACS payment be recalled?
All BACS and Faster payment credits are cleared funds on the day of crediting the account.
They can be used straight away and can't be recalled.

Can a BACS payment be taken back?
Yes, the good news is that all banks and building societies that process BACS payments (payments direct from one bank account to another) and Faster Payments (instant payments between accounts) follow the Credit Payment Recovery process, which means they'll try to help you get back money that you transferred in error.
Can you recall a bank transfer Barclays?
We can contact the bank you sent the payment to and ask them to check whether your payment can be returned to you – please have the details of where you sent the money to hand when you call.
