How do I find digitized records held at the BC Archives?
Use this database to find descriptions and select digitized versions of archival records held at the BC Archives. You can use “quotes” for an exact phrase, the asterisk* as a wild card, and the advanced search function to narrow your results. The collections search was recently updated and some functions may have changed.
What is the BC Archives?
The BC Archives is the archives of the Government of British Columbia and provides research access to records of enduring value to the province for both the provincial government and public researchers. We have an agreement with the Sisters of St Ann, whose archives are located in our building. To read more about them, see:
Will BC Archives keep physical government records?
The BC Archives will continue to receive physical government records in order to preserve them and make them available for research. The Directive on Archiving Government Information places digital information scheduled for archiving on hold until notified.
