6502 cpu architecture
Manning College of Information & Computer Sciences
Jan 30 2004 · Learn about the 6502 processor a classic 8-bit microprocessor that powered many early computers in this lecture from the UMass Computer Science department Download the PDF and explore the architecture instruction set and programming of the 6502 |
How fast does a 6502 CPU run?
The internal logic runs at the same speed as the external clock rate, but despite the low clock speeds (typically in the neighborhood of 1 to 2 MHz ), the 6502's performance was competitive with other contemporary CPUs using significantly faster clocks.
What is a 6502 microprocessor?
The 6502 microprocessor is a relatively simple 8 bit CPU with only a few internal registers capable of addressing at most 64Kb of memory via its 16 bit address bus. The processor is little endian and expects addresses to be stored in memory least significant byte first.
What is a 6502 repository?
A repository for software programs and useful subroutines written in 6502 assembly language. Learn how to interface hardware with your 6502 project through examples with schematics and source code. The Documents Archive houses documentation archived in electronic form that is available for download.
What consoles use a 6502?
Popular video game consoles and home computers of the 1980s and early 1990s, such as the Atari 2600, Atari 8-bit family, Apple II, Nintendo Entertainment System, Commodore 64, Atari Lynx, BBC Micro and others, use the 6502 or variations of the basic design.
