Are car parks accessible?
Most car parks will provide accessible bays and ensure there is level access for those who need it. However, the main differences come from how they deal with people breaking the rules of the car park, for example by parking in the wrong bay or overstaying the permitted time.
Do accessible parking bays have level access?
There will be level access between pedestrian entrances/exits and accessible parking bays. This does not necessarily mean that they must be on the same floor but where there are level differences compliant lifts or ramps must be provided.
Should disabled people be able to Park on the carriageway?
Provision should be made for designated accessible car parking spaces for disabled motorists and passengers (Blue Badge holders) wherever parking is provided. On-street parking relates to parking on the carriageway: the Blue Badge Scheme is designed to enable disabled people to park, on-street, closer to their destination.
