When is impact factor information released?
(Please see Journal Citation Reports: Annual Data Reload for details.) Impact Factor information is released yearly in the summer, and contains information from the previous year. For instance, in the summer of 2021 the 2020 Impact Factors were released.
What happened to the 2022 JCR data?
Following the release of the JCR data published in June 2023, we received missing materials whose absence had prevented journals from receiving a Journal Impact Factor, as well as to correct metrics for a small number of journals. The 2022 JCR data (2023 release) are now complete and all updates have been fully incorporated into the product.
How many journals have an increased impact factor?
Out of the previously listed journals, a total of 72 percent boast an increased Impact Factor. 25 journals are ranked among the top 25% of journals in at least one of the categories they are ranked for.
How many journals have increased Jif in 2021?
From 2019 to 2020, over 80% of journals showed an increase in JIF. Across the prior decade, an average of just 55% of journals showed an increase or no change to their JIF from the prior year. The 66% of journals having an increased JIF from 2020 to 2021 is above average, but not without precedent.
