How do I check in with my Pet at Delta?
When you arrive at the airport, you will need to visit the Special Service Counter to check-in with your pet. At check-in, a Delta agent will ensure your pet and kennel meet the necessary requirements for your trip and collect the required pet fee. Remember to allow extra time at check-in for us to ensure your pet is ready for take-off.
Does Delta accept service dogs?
Delta accepts only trained service animals that are dogs. Customers traveling with a trained service dog (s) must complete the required DOT form (s) available on this page. Delta no longer recognizes emotional support animals as service animals. We know how important it is to travel smoothly with your trained service dog.
Does Delta have a pet kennel?
Your pet must remain inside the kennel with the door secured while in a Delta boarding area, during boarding and deplaning, while in a Delta Sky Club® and while on board the aircraft. When you arrive at the airport, you will need to visit the Special Service Counter to check-in with your pet.
How do Airlines check if a dog is a service dog?
Airlines have the right to request documentation and ask a consumer to describe the function the service dog performs. They can also check for the appropriate vest or harness and observe if the dog's behavior is that of a service dog (or just a rambunctious pet).

Bottom Line
As long as you do your research regarding the aircraft and cabin you book, bringing a small dog, cat or bird with you on your next Delta flight is incredibly easy. While you can't bring larger dogs with you right now, Delta may resume the Delta pet cargo program in the future. Make sure to review all of the rules before booking your flight. By doin
