cast vs forged wheels
What is a forged wheel?
A forged wheel is manufactured from a billet, or a large square piece of solid metal. The billet is heated to extreme temperatures and pressurized to take its shape. This thermal cycle process causes forged wheels to be stronger than cast wheels due to grain refinement.

Often time forged wheels use a “Monoblock” design, but they can also use a two-piece or three-piece design which allows for greater fitment flexibility. If you’re a wheel nerd like we are, then you probably know there is a middle ground between cast and forged: flow form/flow forged.
Are flow formed wheels better than cast wheels?

Are flow formed wheels forged?
For those who want more strength in a wheel that is also lighter and don’t want to spend too much money there are flow formed wheels. An upgrade to cast wheels is a process called Flow Forming.
